The foundation stone is laid for the new facilities of the KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ group in Lucena, Cordoba, the first manufacturer of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment

The group’s new manufacturing site will generate an additional 600 direct jobs by the year 2025.

The new centre in Lucena will be built in two construction phases. In the first one, 40,000 m² of factories and offices will be built. In the second phase, 30,000 m² of manufacturing space will be expanded to a total area of 70,000 m². Of which 4000 m² will be dedicated to design, engineering, administration, employee services and research into new refrigeration and air conditioning technologies.

The project will involve an investment of more than 30 million euros. A photovoltaic solar plant will be installed on the roof with an expected peak power of 1800 kW, which will save an estimated 1600 MWh, approximately 70% of consumption, reducing its carbon footprint.
This production plant will be the most modern and efficient in its sector its sector worldwide.

On 3 February 2023, the foundation stone laying ceremony took place for the new production facilities of the KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ Group, located in Lucena. The event was attended by institutional authorities at regional and local level given its economic relevance for the development of the area at an industrial and technological level.

In recent years, the KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ Group has become a reference in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry thanks to its R+D+i work and the experience of its teams of more than 40 years in the refrigeration and air conditioning sector. The companies INTARCON, first national manufacturer of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment; KEYTER, manufacturer of air conditioning equipment and GENAQ, of atmospheric water generators, have been able to adapt to the needs of their clients and to the constant demands of the sector, which has led to constant expansion. The group will reach a turnover of 85 million € and more than 600 people employed directly in 2022.

KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ are working at the maximum production capacity of its current facilities with production divided into 25 sheds in the Los Santos Industrial Estate in Lucena. This led them to acquire the land in the rural estate “El Horcajo” near the village of Las Navas del Selpillar, also in the municipality of Lucena (Córdoba).

The engineering company AYESA, specialising in technology and engineering, has been entrusted with the development of this major project, while the Sevillian construction company Grupo ZINC has been responsible for the execution of the project.

The land acquired for the project is in an excellent location, right at the foot of the future Olivar Highway, which will form a transversal axis in the interior of Andalusia that will connect directly with six other high-capacity roads, from the A-92 motorway at Estepa to the future A-32 motorway from Linares to Albacete via Úbeda. With connection to the Malaga Highway.

The total investment for the project will exceed 30 million euros and the facilities in its first phase will have a total built-up area of 40,000 m² of which 4,000 m² will be used for offices and laboratories.

The facilities will have a photovoltaic installation on its roof with an expected peak power of 1800 kW, which will mean an estimated saving of 1600 MWh, approximately 70% of the consumption necessary for the production of these industrial facilities. The energy will be consumed in all manufacturing processes, machines, tools, laboratories, testing of manufactured equipment, air conditioning, lighting, etc. The main consumption of renewable energies is essential for these industrial facilities as it is fully aligned with the objectives of the group’s companies in terms of energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and the use of natural refrigerants. The new KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ facilities will enable the companies to increase their turnover to €180 million by 2025.

With the commissioning of these new facilities, the KEYTER INTARCON GENAQ group will have more than 1,200 direct jobs by 2025 and will have the most modern manufacturing facilities in Europe for air conditioning, refrigeration and atmospheric water generation equipment.
